Account
How do I create an account?
Visit crann.ai and click "Sign up". You can register with your email and password, or sign in with Google or GitHub.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Go to the login page and click "Forgot password?". Enter your email and we'll send you a reset link.
Can I change my username?
You can set your username during onboarding. Once set, your username determines your subdomain (username.crann.ai).
How do I delete my account?
Go to your account settings and select "Delete account". This will soft-delete your account and remove your public content.
Leaves
What is a leaf?
A leaf is your personal or business content space on crann.ai. Each leaf gets its own page and can contain posts, pages, and events.
How many leaves can I create?
You can create multiple leaves, each with its own theme, content, and visibility settings.
Can I make a leaf private?
Yes. You can control the visibility of each leaf from its settings.
What display modes are available?
Leaves support three display modes: Feed (chronological timeline), Gallery (visual card grid), and Podcast (audio episodes with a built-in player). You can switch modes at any time without losing content.
Can I get a QR code for my leaf?
Yes. Every leaf has a built-in QR code available from the leaf dashboard. You can download it as a PNG or copy the URL directly.
Posts
What's the difference between a post and a page?
Posts are time-stamped content entries displayed in chronological order. Pages are static content sections on your leaf (like an "About" or "Contact" page).
Can I add images to my posts?
Yes. You can upload images when creating or editing a post. Images are stored securely and served from your leaf.
Can I pin a post to the top of my leaf?
Yes. Pin important posts to keep them at the top of your leaf regardless of publish date. Pinned posts show a pin icon so visitors know they are highlighted.
Can I share someone else's post to my leaf?
Yes. You can share any public post to one of your own leaves, with optional commentary. Shared posts show the full original content with attribution and a share tree trail.
Can other people comment on my posts?
Yes. Signed-in users can leave comments on your posts. You can manage and moderate comments from your leaf dashboard.
Podcasts
Can I host a podcast on crann.ai?
Yes. Set any leaf to Podcast display mode. Posts become episodes with a built-in audio player featuring play/pause, skip, speed control, and a seekable progress bar.
Does crann.ai generate a podcast RSS feed?
Yes. Every podcast leaf gets an iTunes-compatible RSS feed with enclosure tags, episode metadata, and show-level details. Submit the feed URL to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other directories.
Can I use my own domain for my podcast?
Yes. Connect a custom domain to your podcast leaf and your RSS feed will be served from your domain too.
Custom Domains
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. You can connect your own domain to any leaf or your profile. Add a CNAME (or A record for apex domains) and a TXT verification record, then verify from your leaf settings.
Do I need to configure SSL?
No. SSL certificates are provisioned automatically via Let's Encrypt on the first visit to your custom domain. There is nothing to configure.
Can I connect a domain to my profile instead of a leaf?
Yes. Custom domains can be connected to a specific leaf or to your overall profile. When connected to your profile, visitors see your full crann.ai profile page.
Connections
How do I connect with someone?
Visit their profile and click the Connect button. You'll see a "Requested" status while waiting for them to accept. You can cancel a pending request at any time.
Can I see who follows me?
Yes. Your connections and the people you follow are visible on your profile page and in the Connections dashboard.
How do I cancel a connection request?
Hover over the "Requested" button on their profile and click to cancel. You'll get a toast confirmation.
Messaging & Calls
How do I start a conversation?
Visit a user's profile or leaf and click the message button. You can also start new conversations from the Messages section in your dashboard.
How do I make a voice or video call?
Open a conversation and click the phone or video icon in the top right. The other person will receive an incoming call notification.
Are my calls recorded?
No. crann.ai does not record or store voice or video call content. Only call metadata (participants, duration, type) is stored.
Can I share my screen during a call?
Yes. During a video call, click the screen share button to share your screen, a window, or a browser tab with the other participant.
What is a nudge?
A nudge sends a visual shake animation and sound notification to get someone's attention in a conversation. Use it sparingly.
AI Features
How does crann.ai use AI?
AI helps you generate leaves, design themes, and draft content. You can use the Grow wizard to discover leaf ideas, auto-generate visual themes, and draft posts with AI assistance.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. Your content is not used to train any AI models. AI features are powered by Anthropic, which does not use API data for training.
How does AI theme generation work?
The AI analyses your leaf's topic and generates a complete visual theme including colours, fonts, effects, and layout. You can provide colour hints or an inspiration image. All themes are validated for accessibility contrast compliance.
Accessibility
How do I use Read Aloud?
Click the "Listen" button below any post to hear it read aloud. You can pause, resume, stop, and adjust the reading speed. It uses your browser's built-in text-to-speech.
How do I disable animations?
Enable "Reduce motion" in your operating system settings (e.g. macOS: System Settings > Accessibility > Display > Reduce motion). crann.ai will automatically disable all animations.
Are themes accessible?
Yes. All AI-generated themes are validated against WCAG AA contrast requirements. Text, headings, links, and muted text all meet minimum contrast ratios for readability.
Can I navigate with just a keyboard?
Yes. All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Press Tab on page load to access the "Skip to main content" link. Focus indicators are visible on all focused elements.
Security
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and follow security best practices to protect your data.
Do you support two-factor authentication?
Yes! You can enable TOTP-based two-factor authentication in your profile settings. You'll need an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy. Backup codes are provided when you enable 2FA.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can export all your data in JSON format from your profile settings. This includes your profile, leaves, posts, messages, connections, and more.
