Podcasts & Audio

Host your podcast directly on crann.ai with a custom audio player, episode management, and an RSS feed compatible with Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other directories.

Setting up a podcast leaf

Any leaf can become a podcast. Go to your leaf settings, open the Content tab, and change the display mode from “Feed” to Podcast. Your leaf will switch to an episode-style layout with a gradient hero header showing your show art, title, description, and episode count.

Publishing episodes

Each post on a podcast leaf is treated as an episode. To publish an episode:

  1. Create a new post on your podcast leaf.
  2. Include an audio file link in your post content (the player will detect it automatically).
  3. Add show notes, links, and any supporting content in the post body.
  4. Publish the post — it becomes the latest episode.

Episodes are numbered automatically in reverse chronological order (newest = highest number). Each episode gets a collapsible show notes section and the full action bar (reactions, comments, sharing).

The audio player

Every episode with audio gets a built-in player with:

  • Play / pause controls
  • Skip forward and back 15 seconds
  • Seekable progress bar with scrub handle
  • Playback speed control (0.75x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2x)
  • Current time and total duration display

The player adapts to your leaf's theme colours for a consistent look.

RSS feed

Every leaf on crann.ai has an RSS feed at yourname.crann.ai/leaf-slug/feed.xml. For podcast leaves, this feed is enhanced with the full iTunes/podcast namespace, including:

  • <itunes:author>, <itunes:summary>, <itunes:image>
  • <enclosure> tags for audio files
  • Per-episode metadata: title, episode number, type, and summary

Submit your feed URL to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and other directories to distribute your show. If you connect a custom domain, your feed URL uses your domain too.

Display modes

Podcast is one of three display modes available for leaves:

  • Feed — Posts in a timeline (default)
  • Gallery — Visual grid of cards
  • Podcast — Audio episodes with player

You can switch between modes at any time from the leaf editor without losing any content.
